American Idol kicked off their season eight yesterday with audition of thousand of aspirant and, as happens, the show conjured some memorable auditions. However it is not for those customary contestants that I’m writing this article but for a special entrant who took the everyone by storm.
I’m talking about Katrina Darrell who turned up in a skimpy Bikini. Darrell wore as little as she could —
legally — to the “Idol” audition in Phoenix, AZ, and it appears that the 20-year-old model from Chino Hills, CA, is now on her way to Hollywood … But it wasn’t for her vocal talents. Shocker, right?
Jaw-dropped male judges Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson gave a ‘yes’ to Darrell’s middling performance of the song ‘Vision of Love’ but new judge Kara DioGuardi raised vocal objection to Darrell’s variation of the song. However, Darrell backed by the men made her way to the next round in Hollywood.

I’ve been recently renovating my house .The irony about decorating your house is that the end product is very rewarding and gratifying but the journey is very excruciating.Having a knack for detail,I started looking
for articles on decorating different areas and corners of my house. While writing my previous article on lighting ,I came to know that every aspect of interior designing has a very in-depth analysis behind it.I’m not a master here so I thought of giving it some reading to understand some basic concepts that’ll also help me in my renovation.
This is some info I gathered on colouring your house.Colours, as I understand is a vital component in designing your house, infact a very important aspect of our life.We are in a world where colours dominate our lives, from reading signs on the road to seeing if fruit is ripe to eat. It affects our moods - blue is calming - red can make us tense. We use and experience colours everyday in our lives without even appreciating it.
In theory of Interior designing ,there are basically three types of colours.they are:
PRIMARY COLOURS: All colors, with the exception of white, come from primary colors. Blue, yellow and red are the primary colors. Combinations of these three colors produce other colors. Mix all three together in equal amounts to produce brown

Last month I had been to my GP for a regular health check. With my big body structure , I was very sure that I’ll come out clean of all the blood test for cholesterol, blood pressure and all those medical jargon that the nurse was throwing at me….Also, I was following some strict diet routines for some time to tone my body so I was all powered and confident that I’ll sail through.
After a week, when I received my report I was startled to know that I was diagnosed for high Cholesterol. On having a discussion with the doc in detail, he explained me that Cholesterol has nothing to do with body structure or your fitness but it is do with your internal fitness and more importantly your ‘EATING HABITS‘.
He explained me the importance of having proper Vitamins and proteins in my diet along with the 5 a day fruits & vegetables.Since then I’ve been reading a lot on healthy eating and sadly have reduced my 5 a week ‘KFC’ (dare not ask what’s KFC) intake
With all my reading for healthy eating I’ve compiled a list of 5 food fallacies that I found to be the most common misconception when we start thinking of loosing weight or improve our eating habits.
FALLACY 1: Skipping breakfast can help you lose weight
Since, you are getting late for office in the morning, what’s wrong in skipping the breakfast to save a few
hundred calories? Read the rest of this entry »

Freezing temperatures, biting winds and rain coupled with central heating indoors throws skin into confusion. Winter weather is the cue to review your skincare regime.
Follow these 5 steps to care for your skin in winter
1. Change your cleanser
Winter skin dryness can be caused by dead cells clogging the skin’s surface so switch to a gentle exfoliating cleanser that helps to eliminate dead cells helping to reveal fresh, more radiant skin.
2. Make lip easier for make-up
With our summer tan now long gone, imperfections are more visible. Select a good cream or serum to help moisturize your skin and refine the appearance of pores
3. Maximize moisturisation
Keep the body’s fluid levels topped up by drinking a lot of water then ensure skin stays hydrated. Read the rest of this entry »

Light is an essential part of our daily activities. Just like we need air, water and food to survive we need light in order to function efficiently. Gone are the days when people used to stop working after sunset. The invention of electricity has made life easier and has helped to improve efficiency. The use of light in interior spaces greatly affects the environment and “mood” inside the space. Here are some of the aspects that can be considered while lighting an interior space
AMBIENT LIGHTING
Ambient lighting is a hidden light source that washes the room with a glow. This creates very few shadows and tends to flatten a room. Japanese paper lanterns and wall sconces both produce ambient lighting. For temporary ambient effects, use a dimmer with your ordinary lighting.
ACCENT LIGHTING
Accent lighting provides interest to a room. This method of lighting
interior design highlights and object or architectural feature. To use accent lighting, you only need a bulb and a shield to direct the light to the desired focus. Halogen spotlights and opaquely shaded table lamps both provide accent lighting.

As the world grows richer, more populous and more technologically advanced, it also gets more energy hungry. Rising fossil-fuel prices and supply concerns have prompted many countries (particularly the developed nations) to invest in other ways of meeting their energy needs, ranging from new nuclear power stations to wave and solar installations. As per Economist, in 2006, 18.3% of the world’s electricity was produced using renewable sources. But International Energy Agency predicts that by 2030, this will rise to 23.3% as technology gets cheaper and fossil fuels remain pricey. Energy produced by hydro and wind power will double by 2030 accounting for most of the growth. But the share of electricity generated by renewables is still far behind that of dirty-but-cheap coal, which will rise to almost 44%.
